Laboratory of Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare Dermatopathology Practice is privileged to include Luis Berrutti, M.D., as a member of its medical staff. Dr. Berrutti brings with him a wealth of knowledge and an impressive academic and professional background.
Dr. Berrutti earned his medical degree from the University of Guayaquil School of Medicine in Ecuador. Subsequently, he relocated to the United States, where he completed a five-year pathology training program at Stony Brook University Hospital, formerly University Hospital SUNY in New York. Here, he served as chief resident during his junior year.
Dr. Berrutti went on to serve a dermatopathology visiting fellowship at The Institute for Dermatopathology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also served a dermatopathology fellowship at Albany Medical College in New York.
Upon completing his postgraduate training, Dr. Berrutti began his professional career at Dianon Systems in Stratford, Connecticut, where he served as a dermatopathologist. He later transitioned to an associate professor role at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He went on to work for several other laboratories such as Quest Diagnostics, McLain Laboratories, and Bostwick Laboratories.
Dr. Berrutti’s research efforts have been published as abstracts for medical journals, including the American Journal of Clinical Pathology. He is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
